Opening Ceremonies...Wow! What an experience! It kind of felt like what the Olympians must feel like walking in their opening ceremonies. There are over 550 teams here and more than 6000 girls! Teams from all over the US, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Barbados...where else...? I can't remember them all. We just think that the girls from Alaska are probably having a bit of an acclimation problem!
It was loud and wild and crazy. Our girls were absolutely ADORABLE!!!
I am posting the pics to my SmugMug now, so they should be ready for viewing soon (click the link to Festival Photos on the right). I did not go thru and edit them yet, so the good will be mixed with the bad. Sorry about that!
I cannot tell you how tired I am, and the girls just keep on going. Their joy and enthusiasm is insipring and I feel blessed to be able to share this experience with them (and all of you!)
Feel free to post comments and I will share them with the girls.
For now, one pooped momma signing out! Talk to you tomorrow!
Keeping up with SVVC's 15-Katie's team on their journey to 2011 Festival in Phoenix, Arizona!

The Evening's Agenda
It's 4:20 and we just had out team meeting and went over the rules and expectations for the girls. I expect we are going to have fun!
At 4:45, we head downstairs and walk over to the arena for opening ceremonies. You should see these girls in their tie-dye t shirts and tutus - so cute! Marissa made the funniest video while Corryne was out of the room! She is going to email me and I will try to post it here.
Opening Ceremonies are at 6, over by 7, then the girls and Katie walk back to dinner and I get to go to a chaperone's meeting. Later tonight, I will upload the photos from the day.
The girls will be in their rooms by 10, lights out by 10:30.
Tomorrow - breakfast is at 8:15
Pool play starts at 3 and we are off the first game, so we will be playing our first match about 4. I don't think we will be back to our rooms until 9:30 or so, long day!
We are going to try to go swimming in the morning for some fun in the sun before it gets too hot.
That's all for now - talk to you soon!
XOXO

We're Here!
Well, after a big accident causing a major traffic jam (but not involving us, thank the Lord!), and a 30 minute sight-seeing adventure of places in Pheonix we do NOT want to visit (translation...we got lost...), we finally arrived!
The dorms are great - the girls are settling in and have all re-arranged their rooms to fit their tastes and personalities. We have had lunch and are now just hanging out waiting for the team meeting.
Most of the girls snoozed on the bus and then just chatted and braided each other's hair - so cute!
Anyway, I will get them together for some photos and will upload tonight, but for now...
Go Katie's Girls!
