Well, I just spent 20 minutes writing an update and then something happened and I lost internet access and lost it all...come on! It's 11:15 and I wanna go to bed, but the laundry is in the dryer, so I guess I really have nothing but time...
Ok, to recap the afternoon, we lost every match today but we showed great improvement throughout the evening. We are starting to find our groove as a team and tomorrow we should play even better. It was so great to watch the girls continue to give their best effort game after game - they really didn't quit and I am so proud of them!
Ok: Injury update:
Macy: Macy was BEAST tonight! Unbelievable that she hasn't swung at a ball for 3 weeks - she is back and was on fire! We saw the trainer and she got taped up before play started. I gave her a couple of advil before the last match - more preventative, she didn't ask for it. Then after the last match she got iced up and sat for a good 20 minutes with the ice. She says she feels great!
Maja: Maja's wrist was bothering her a bit so she also got taped up before and iced up after. It sure didn't seem to hold her back any - she went after every ball that came her way!
Nicole: Nicole wore her ankle brace during play and iced up after - says she is feeling fine. Another girl you would never know was having pain - she played great!
Cassie - Taped up her feet (plantar fasciitis) before and iced after with a couple of Advil thrown in the middle for pain. She didn't let up at all tonight and ran all over that court chasing balls!
Alex: Oh, Alex...Alex hurt her hand during the second match and continued to play thru the last match. Then she went to the trainer for ice and they noticed that her pinkie was swollen and very painful. They are concerned that she may have dislocated her pinkie joint where it attaches to her hand. They also noticed that her thumb on the same hand was sore, so she is splinted and taped up and will see the trainer and orthopedic specialist tomorrow. Hopefully they will clear her to play. She wants to play with one hand if they will let her! She had us all cracking up in the medical center tonight. When the trainer asked her if she had ever hurt her hand before, she went thru a laundry list of injuries and included a broken tail bone - like that was relevant to anything!!!
Carissa, Corryne, Hailey, Marissa and Nicole: Injury free (God love ‘em!) They played so well tonight and were so encouraging and positive the whole night. They all had fun!
Oh, another funny Alex story: We were walking home tonight and Corryne and Marissa were ahead of the rest of us. They crossed the street and the light turned red before they were all the way across. I called out “Hey ladies, you think just because you are pretty you don’t have to wait for the green light? And Alex yells at the top of her lungs “STREET WALKERS!!” All the other people on the street turned to look. Then Alex says, a little more quietly, “Oh! I meant JAY walkers”! We were laughing so hard – I thought I was going to wet my pants (TMI, I know)
Tomorrow, we are going to have lunch at the Spaghetti Factory for a treat, then see the trainer for Alex at 2:00. Hopefully they will clear her to play. More pictures are being uploaded right now - again, I took almost 500 photos and did not go thru them yet, so ignore the blurry ones.
It is going on 11:45 and the laundry should be dry, so I am going to sign off and go to bed now.
Thank you for trusting me with your daughters – they are such a treat and I am having a blast!
Night,
Wendy
